Solveig's tour journal
| Oct 21, 2006 | A new day in Oslo, where I met at Fjellhaug at noon to record a Christmas devotion for all of Norea’s donors and partners, as part of annual Christmas CD. I then quickly did a sound check, and sang “Blessed Assurance”, again with Inger at the piano for the distinguished crowd, and an original" Army of Compassion", to a crowd who were full of anticipation to hear the next keynote speaker; Kjell Magne Bondevik, Norway’s former prime minister. We had our picture taken together by Astrid. Fun to have for the archives and fun for mom, who says she remembers the former prime minister running around as a little boy in his shorts!
Now I had to hurry straight to the Oslo Filadelfia, and do a band rehearsal for the evening concert. I love singing with twins Garness, and have them join me on my performance of “Put your hand in the Hand&rdquo. Bernt Austad, my good friend and sound man is here today, (sound engineer for Fagert er Landet and so many other special events.). I then dashed by my room at “the inn” to change clothes, and got to the Anniversary Dinner about an hour after it began. I got to enjoy Ingers company during the dinner. Sitting next to her anywhere is always a party. I sang “I Pray For Norway”, with the extra mini-choruses with a prayer for South America, Africa, Asia and Europe during the dinner. Somewhere around the desert, I was given the wonderful news that Lynor record label is ready to give my brother Bjarte, sweet Karina Reigstad, producer Terje Kleppe and myself a gold record for “Min Båt er så liten” childrens CD and cassettes. This means over 25 000 sold units in little Norway with its 4.6 mill people. They are ready to do a press conference on it, if we can just find a date when I am around…It looks like that the best time would be around the middle of February in Bergen. Within minutes Bjarte called to say he and daughter Astrid were in town… Did we have plans for the evening? They ended up coming to the Filadelfia later on, and it was just wonderful seeing them again too! The line up of the concert was: Espen Samuelsen, Kårstadbygget, Gunstein Draugedalen, Gospelsambandet, Marit & Irene, Mons Leidvin Takle, Tore Thommassen, Rune Larsen, Garness & myself. Got to bed awfully late. News came in that Eirin had died today. ‹ go back |
