About Solveig
Solveig Leithaug (Sol-vey Light-houg) Henderson, 2008 Angel Award and 2008 Telly Award Winner, and a recipient of the Nashville based Gospel Music Associations prestigious Dove Award as International Artist of the Year, has since her teens, been a well known concert artist in the Scandinavian gospel scene, throughout Europe and in the USA. Her honest lyrics and catching melodies, coupled with her exceptional guitar playing and soothing voice, makes her a cherished concert artist and worship leader. The musical expressions include flavors of acoustic pop, jazz, country and roots. An original member of the influential Oslo Gospel Choir, (over one million sold CDs) the Norwegian-born songwriter and worship leader has recorded twelve solo CD projects and three bestselling children’s CDs, in addition to contributing to countless compilations in her over 24 years as a recording artist. Her most recent recording is "Julefred", ("Christmas Peace"), produced in Nashville in 2008 by Steve Hindalong,(Sixpense None the Richer) features 12 of Solveig's favorite Christmas carols. It's English version "Christmas Peace" will be officially released internationally in 2009. In 2006 Solveig recorded a CD featuring a collection of hymns, done in a roots/ bluegrass sound; a moving tribute to her parents and native land of Norway. Her critically acclaimed recording “Worship You”, also from 2006, features eleven original songs, and is distributed through Authentic Records, (WORD
Solveig`s musical talents and heart for outreach has taken her around the world, from concert arenas to radio and TV studios, from official government functions to churches and city parks. She lead worship for Billy Graham’s daughter Anne Graham Lotz` “Just Give Me Jesus”, held in Norway’s Oslo Spektrum, May of 2007, which was dubbed a historic event, drawing the largest gathering of women ever in the nation of Norway. A well loved guest artist on TBN for many years, Solveig opened her Christmas tour in Norway by performing live on TV2's Good Morning Norway-show.
She resides in Franklin, TN with her husband Jim Chaffee and children, David, Kari and John.
