Lyrics

New Generation
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1994
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1994

There’s a new generation of women and men
Who’s lost their lives to find them again
There’s a new generation
There’s a new generation of young and old
Who’ve forgotten their age
They have eternal souls
There’s a new generation
A new generation

Chorus:
They used to stumble in the darkness
Now they see the Sun
They were like prisoners held captive
Now they’re free to run
Tell me: Who can change the way of the wind?
Who can make a make a dead man rise and live again?
Who can keep this generation from living fully for Him?

There’s a new generation of gals and guys
Who only want truth and despise all lies
There’s a new generation
There’s a new generation of dads and moms
Who are marching with their children
to the beat of different drums
There’s a new generation
A new generation

Chorus:

NANANA…

My Strenght is in You
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1993
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1993

Psalm 25: 4-5

The voices are many
The choices are plenty
The road is narrow
Lord, I want to follow You
The further I travel
I realize new levels
Of heights and depths
of Your amazing faithfulness

Chorus:
Let me look into Your eyes
Get a glimpse into Your heart
Don’t ever let me drown in a river of lies
May Your Spirit draw me near
Speak the truth and I will hear
Let me always keep Your Word as a light to my eyes
Your grace pulls me through
My strength is in You

The stronger the wind blows
The deeper my roots grow
The longer I live the more I need You, Lord
The further I travel
I realize new levels
of heights and depths
of Your amazing faithfulness

Chorus:

I only want what is true
I only want what is of You

Chorus:

Only One God
Lyrics: Solveig L. Henderson, 1993
Music: Solveig L. Henderson, 1993

Chorus:
The maker of the Milky Way
And millions of million stars
Knows you better than you know yourself
Will you give Him all of your heart?

If you’re an orphan, He’ll be your father
If you’re a widow, He’ll be your man
If you are hurting, He’ll be your healer
If you are lonesome, He’ll be your friend
If you’re in sorrow, He’ll be your comfort
If you’re in danger, He’ll be your shield
If you are lost, He’ll be your Savior
If you’ll believe in Him and yield

Chorus:
To the Only one God
The Lord of creation
There is no other God but Him
There is no other name that brings healing to the nations
The hope of my salvation is Jesus,
Yes it is Jesus. It’s Jesus and only Him.

If you are thirsty, He’ll give you water
If you are hungry, He’ll give you bread
If you are naked, He will clothe you
If you are homeless, He’ll give you a bed
If you’re in prison, He’ll come and see you
If you’re a stranger, He’ll take you in
And if you say you abide in Jesus,
He says you ought to walk as Him

And bring glory to the
Only one God
The Lord of creation…

The maker of the Milky Way
And millions of million stars
Knows you better than you know yourself
Will you give Him all of your heart?

Navigator
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1994
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1994

Revelations 3:20

The wind keeps blowing, the water flowing
The waves keep crashing on the shore
The rain keeps pouring, the thunder roaring
And now your visions getting poor

The rocks you’re fearing, are quickly nearing
Your life is shaken to the core
The storm gets rougher, but Someone offers
to help if He can get on board

Chorus:
Are you gonna let Him in?
Are you gonna let Him take your sails?
Can you handle all this wind?
It’s dangerous to go much further without Him
Are you gonna let Him in?
Are you gonna let Him take your sails?
His blood ran red as the reddest sunset
His love exceeds the galaxies
It goes deeper than the bottom of the sea.

He made the ocean with just a motion
His voice can calm a raging storm
You need a Savior, a Navigator
To take you where you’re safe and warm

The wind keeps blowing, the water flowing
The waves keep crashing on the shore
The ships keep wrecking, His voice keeps beckoning
“Don’t ignore Me anymore!”

Chorus:

Bridge:
His love is wider, wider than the horizon
It goes my higher, higher than the Milky Way
His love is surer than the daily sunrise
He’s touched my heart, so much more beautifully
than I have words to say

Wedding Feast
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1992
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1992

This song was written for my dear friends  Stephan and Anne Christiansen’s wedding, December 20, 1992

Getting ready for the wedding feast
She is all adorned in white
Her wedding gown of linen, clean and pure
The Groom has paid for with His life
She doesn’t know exactly when He’ll come
Only that He’s worth waiting for
She’s kept herself from any other one
He’s got the key to her hearts door

Getting ready for the wedding feast
The invitation is for all
Some people have important things to do
And others just ignore the call
Some say that there will never be a feast
But some give all they have to come
They come from streets and places no one thought
The Father could know anyone

Chorus:
She’s getting ready, getting ready
Getting rid of every wrinkle and spot
Holding on to the promise she’s got
Ready. Getting ready
She is waiting for her Groom.
He said: “Be ready, for I’m coming soon!”

Getting ready for the wedding feast
She is all adorned in white
Her gown of linen, clean and pure
The Groom has paid for with His life
The Father’s longing for the wedding day
He wants to fill up every room
They come from every nation, tongue and tribe
To celebrate the Bride and Groom

Cover Up the Pain
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1989
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1989

Matthew 25:35

Heal the sick, go clothe the naked
Care for kids that are forsaken
In my name give a cup of cold water
Feed the poor. Treat a widow like your mother.

In the afternoon I saw some children playing in the park
But a lonely moon gives light to empty benches in the dark
On the seventh floor there is a lady with no family
What’s behind her door is a story no ones cared to see.

After the sun gets down
All the lonely hearts are desperate to be found

Just some blocks away all the streets are filled with cars and trucks
In a small café people sell their bodies, spend their bucks
There’s a boy at ten. Got no mama, got no place to sleep
Has to act like a man, but inside he’s just a child who longs
to weep on mama’s shoulders

After the sun goes down
All the lonely hearts are desperate to be found

Cover up the pain, cover up the pain
Heaven sees the tears
Even those that blend in with the rain
He sees it just the same. No need to cover up the pain.

There’s salvation for a sinner in Jesus blood on Calvary
He came to heal the brokenhearted.
He came to set the captives free
He laid His life down for His followers before He said;
Come follow me. And He said:

Heal the sick. Go clothe the naked….

I Lift My Head
Lyrics: Ken & Solveig Henderson, 1990
Music: Ken & Solveig Henderson, 1990

This is the very first song my husband Ken and I penned together. During an early morning in our blue house with the white picket fence in Lindale, TX, while still newly wed, the song took shape as we tried our best to worship from an honest heart.

I lift up my head
I lift up my voice
I’m making a choice to say I love You
I lift up my heart
I lift up my hands
I’m taking a stand to say I love You

I give You my doubts
I give You my sins
With all that’s within I say I love You
I give You my hurts
I give You my pain
I give You my chains and say I love You

I love You, I love You, Lord (2x)
I love You, Lord

You give me Your blood
You give me Your name
You’re taking my shame and tell me You love me
You’re healing my scars
You’re setting me free
You’re helping me see that You love me

I give You my dreams
I give You my fears
I’m making it clear that I love You
I’m willing to go
I’m willing to stay
Whatever you say, cause I love You

I love You, I love you, Lord (2x)
I love You, Lord

Yearning For You
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1994
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1994

Psalm 42: 1, 2

I’ve got a feeling
I don’t really know how great You are, Father
I’ve got a feeling that
I only have a little part

Chorus:
I’ve caught some glimpses
Through the years
I’ve felt Your presence
Through the tears
Still my heart is yearning
Father for You

I’ve got a feeling
There are sides of You I haven’t seen, Father
And in our friendship
There are places we still haven’t been

Don't You Worry
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1988
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1988

Matthew 6: 32-34

DON’T YOU WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW
DON’T YOU WORRY NOW, IF YOU CAN
‘CAUSE THERE’S ONE THAT SEES YOUR SORROW
HE’S YOUR FATHER IN ANOTHER LAND
HE’S THE FOOTSTEP IN THE SAND

COME, TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF RIGHT NOW
LOOKING BACK, DO YOU SEE ONE SINGLE DAY
HE LET YOU BE ON YOUR OWN?
I KNOW AT TIMES
YOU MUST HAVE FELT SO ALL ALONE
BUT HE CARRIED YOU,
WHEN YOU THOUGHT HE HAD GONE

DON’T YOU WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW…

COME, TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF RIGHT NOW
LOOKING AHEAD, DO YOU SEE ONE SINGLE DAY
HE’LL LET YOU BE ON YOUR OWN
HE KNOWS YOUR FUTURE
AND HE KNOWS YOUR FEARS
AND HE’LL CARRY YOU
WHEN ALL YOU’VE GOT TO OFFER IS TEARS

DON’T YOU WORRY…

HEAVEN PRAYS FOR YOU
‘CAUSE JESUS WANTS TO SEE YOU THROUGH,
YEAH, YEAH…

I Pray For Norway
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1990
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1990

On a warm summer night, while walking in downtown Oslo, Ken and I had an open-hearted conversation with a young couple about God. This fueled my already burdened heart for my homeland, to pray for its people to experience the amazing power of knowing the One who made our beautiful land. Tears dripped on the paper as I wrote the first lines to this song, just before the sun rose for a new day in my beloved homeland.

I have seen the midnight sun
A glimpse of reindeer on the run
How a salmon in the river
Fights the fisherman
I’ve seen the mountains so majestic
Been awed by the wildest waterfall
My heart is filled with gratitude
To know the One who made it all

I pray for Norway
Dearest Jesus, let Your light shine over Norway
Let the sun of grace fill this place
I pray for Norway
Dearest Jesus, let Your light shine over Norway
Let the sun of grace come and shine over us.

I have seen the deepest fjords
I’ve sat by campfires on the shores
Where guitar and accordion
Fill the summer nights
I’ve seen the glaciers glow in sunsets
Making Norway the winter wonderland
But I’d rather have You shine on us
Than the beauty of the Northern lights

Bridge:
Let the sun of grace
Melt our hearts so we can know You, Lord
In every little town
Make our hands Your tools to break the fences down
So Your children can together praise You, Lord
You still love Norway,
And pray for Norway.

My Precious One
Lyrics: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1992
Music: Solveig Leithaug Henderson, 1992

I wrote this while being pregnant with our first born son, David Levi. God has since blessed us with two more children, Kari Julianna and John Markus. All three of them the greatest treasure of my life. Praying for help and wisdom from the Ultimate Parent is something I still do often, in case you wondered…

Baby, you’re my precious one.
This is your mommy singing you your very first song.
Baby, are you a boy or girl?
Should I buy a sailor hat or a ribbon to tie a curl?

Baby, just as I feel your kicking moves,
Can you hear me when I tell you that I love you?
Baby, they say I’m getting pretty round,
Like a basketball they say, but I don’t mind at all,
For you are my precious one.

Baby, are you gonna be a busy one?
Will you climb the backyard tree or will you study all day long?
Baby, I’m just wondering,
Will I one day see you imitating me in everything?

Will I be able to show you with my life,
As your mommy and your daddy’s wife,
The One who loves you even more than your mommy does?
O, baby, one day I’ll tell you all about the Cross.

My heavenly father, I am His precious one
He knew my name before the world even had begun
Oh, my Father, I want to be like Him
He’s loved me patiently
And faithfully been my friend

Will I be able to show you with my life
As your mommy and your daddy’s wife
The one who loves you even more
Than your mommy does
Oh, baby, one day I’ll tell you all about the Cross.

Fall In Love With You
Lyrics: Mike & Kathy Deasy
Music: Mike & Kathy Deasy

I just set aside the cares of this world
And fall in love with You again
I just throw away the troubles of this world
And fall in love with You
